“Muffin Tin”….Tuesday.

Well I cant seem to get my mind on MUFFIN TINS in Mondays..

SO…..I think were OFFICIALLY on the “Muffin Tin Tuesday” tip!

LOL

This weeks theme FOR US is “Ital is Vital”….

Ital=HEALTHY FRESH FOOD.

Basically.

I have been reading alot about RAW food  and it really inspired me to ….DO BETTER.

I can DO BETTER…It is MY responsibility.

As the WOMAN of the house I am responsible for what GOES IN these little souls.

SOOOOO….

Were making EFFORTS to eat MORE ITAL.

We already eat pretty healthy.

The kids eat lots of FRUITS and VEGETABLES.

I mean…I dont know any other kids who eat KALE!!!

LOL

Tonight I just tried to focus on HEALTHY.

Spinich salad.

carrots.

applesauce.

grapes.

mac n cheese.

and ODWALLA Organic Carrot Juice.

(Which is on sale at the Discount Organic Grocery ..on the island!!!)

To be honest…the kids didnt like THIS carrot juice.

They LOVE carrots JUICED …in the juicer…

But ---Not THIS carrot juice.

But JAY LOVES IT!!!!!!

He will be taking this to work all week!!!!

So…..We are on a JOURNEY(as usual…for us in the RASTAfam!)

We are MAKING our own Granola bars tommorow…

along with Bread.

Maybe it will turn out better than our “Ugly Bread”

Football FRENZY!!!!!

Today was a GLORIOUS day!!!!

We played our CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

Well FIRST…Lets set the scene-

WE started our season about 7 weeks ago.

We WON …AT FIRST.

I should say…we won the FIRST GAME.

Then we LOST for 6 STRAIGHT GAMES!!!!!!!!!!

I mean…we played HARD.

But ….WE LOST.

6 TIMES….

In a ROW!!!!!!

Which I think is ALWAYS harder for the PARENTS….

MAYBE.

There are SOMETIMES when SOME kids get upset.

Thank goodness our kids dont seem to CARE at all.

They just LOVE to PLAY!!!!

 

But TODAY…..

After 6 STRAIGHT LOSSES …..

The slate was wiped clean before the game.

(Silly…I have NO IDEA  why??????)

And TODAY after a season of LOSING…

We won!!!!!!!!

Little Jags WON the 2009 YMCA Flag Football Championships!!!

And the “SUPER SILVER LINING” is that during the ENTIRE game we watched the SWEETEST thing happen…..

Zeek would STOP and help ANYONE up off the ground …

ANYTIME they fell.

It was an amazing show of KINDNESS.

But of course…

we weren’t surprised…

It was EZEKIEL!!!!!!

What a DAY !!!

What a GAME!!!!

“Fabulous Book” Friday!!!!!

She had been telling me about it for MONTHS!!!!

I guess she knows that I am one of  TRUTH’S number 1 fans!

I can tell you that I can ONLY vouch for the first 45 pages..

BUT…..So far----AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

The book is broken down into sections.

Divided by “sections of history”.

FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!!!

Chap 1:     Handicapped by History: The Process of Hero-Making

Chap 2:     1493: The TRUE importance of Christopher Columbus(Come-rob-us) like Zeek says!!!  LOL

Chap 3:     The TRUTH about the 1st Thanksgiving

Chap 4:      Red Eyes

Chap 5:      “Gone with the Wind”: The Invisibility of Racism in American History Textbooks

You get the jist…FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!!!

I mean I read THIS and was HOOKED:

ESPECIALLY as a homeschooling mom.

I woke up today and was ready to get going.

BUT…while I had my coffee and checked my email, Zeek started on his DINOSAUR DRAWINGS.

I checked him out a book at the library about DRAWING dinosaurs.

He LOVED it.

He loved it so much that he started on them BRIGHT and EARLY this AM….

Throwing off my WHOLE school day.

I mean….What KIND of mother stops her son from drawing THESE?

TOTALLY FREEHANDED!!!!!!!!!!

He just LOOKED at the pictures in the book and DREW THEM!!!!!

So …..

We had a BACKWARDS school day.

From ART to READING.

Instead of READING to ART.

And all the while Zeek was drawing these pics…..

Shasha was sooooo upset.

She’s not as ….how can I say it?

DRAWING SAVVY as Zeek.

So while our resident ARTIST sat at the table and whipped out dinosaur after dinosaur…..

I sat with Shasha and explained that ART comes in lots of different forms.

She may not be a SKETCH ARTIST…But shes an artist…of SOME KIND.

We watched videos on Frida Kahlo

And we talked about Picasso and Dali…..

After all THAT- I showed her how to draw some things that were easy for HER to draw….FLOWERS.

By the end of the morning I asked her THIS question…

“ Now, Do you think your an artist?”

She smiled BIG.

and said

YES!

A "new" shoe..........TOMS SHOES
