Fabulous Book Friday is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am LOVING this book right now.

I checked it out at the library on Wednesday and have been READING ever since.

It has LOTS of helpful hints for all homeschooling moms.

Veteran or Beginner …this book is for you.

I guess she knows that I am one of  TRUTH’S number 1 fans!

I can tell you that I can ONLY vouch for the first 45 pages..

BUT…..So far----AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

The book is broken down into sections.

Divided by “sections of history”.

FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!!!

Chap 1:     Handicapped by History: The Process of Hero-Making

Chap 2:     1493: The TRUE importance of Christopher Columbus(Come-rob-us) like Zeek says!!!  LOL

Chap 3:     The TRUTH about the 1st Thanksgiving

Chap 4:      Red Eyes

Chap 5:      “Gone with the Wind”: The Invisibility of Racism in American History Textbooks

You get the jist…FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!!!

I mean I read THIS and was HOOKED:

One is astonished in the study of history at the recurrence of the idea that evil must be forgotten, distorted, skimmed over. We must not remember that Daniel Webster got drunk but only remember that he was a splendid constitutional lawyer. We must forget that George Washington was a slave owner.., and simply remember the things we regard as creditable and inspiring. The difficulty, of course, with this philosophy is that history loses its value as an incentive and example; it paints perfect men and noble nations, but it does not tell the truth.

YEAH!!!!  Its Friday!!!!

Sooooooo…………

Its “Fabulous Book” Friday here in our little world.

This week has been a DOOZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The kids were ALL sick …at one point or another.

Thank goodness God decided to space it out because 1 at a time is ENOUGH!!!!!!!!

One highlight of my week was going to the library …ALONE.

You read that right…ALONE.

I was there to get “supplies”…which means MOVIES.

You see I have been “in this” long enough to know…

when 1  is down with illness….the REST are SURE to follow.

So first chance I got Iwas off to the library.

I actually checked out SOOOO MANY movies that I felt the need to  EXPLAIN that there were 4 soon-to-be SICK children in the house ….THAT is why we needed soooooo many movies.

BUT…….

I also got to look at the MOMMY BOOKS.

LOVE IT.

I wandered thru the library just LOOKING.

NO kids behind me pulling books off the shelf to look at.

No giving “the look” .

It was wonderful.

AND

I re-checked out this book.

I have read it before, but it is so simple and easy to read that I am reading it again…

If you are a homeschool Mom…..or a Mom interested about the WEIRD WORLD of HOMESCHOOLING.

READ THIS BOOK.

"Fabulous Book Friday"

I know, I know.

I can't say enough about this book.

I LOVE it.

I read so many books at one time because I can only read for a few minutes at a time because of my kids.

But THIS has been my GO-TO pick me up.

Its always good for an "escape" for a moment.

I always come away feeling like I have some things to THINK ABOUT.

Capter 3 has been my FAVORITE SO FAR.

"Learn to Love"

Whata title! We all FEEL like we just love freely, but in reality(especially for a woman) we are so confused by what love actually is.

From a young age we get so confused betwwen real LOVE and what Voddie Baucham Jr.(the author) calls the Greco-Roman myth of ROMANTIC LOVE.

We expect sooo much.
We want a fairy tale.
Seriously...we EXPECT a fairy tale.
Just like in the Disney movies.

And MOST of the time....it starts that way.

HOT..Like a fire.

Most relationships start in THAT way.

and THAT love has its PLACE.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE that kind of love.

Im actualy a 'Greco-Roman myth" love junkie.

I am a sucker for it.

But SLOWLY...Im working on it.

"While love is a large part of the love equation, it must not be the sum total. Although love is accompanied by emotion, BIBLICAL LOVE IS NOT LED BY EMOTION. Emotions change."

"Newsflash: Marriage is HARD!!!"

That "fairy Tale " love fades.

We get swallowed in our lives.
We have kids.
We go to work.
We cook meals.
We Homeschool kids...ALL DAY.
We are TIRED.

"Fairy Tale" love wont LAST.

It simmers.

Its OK that it simmers.
It is SUPPOSED to simmer.

What kind of people would we be if all we cared about was THAT kind of love.

SELF-ABSORBED!!!

LOL

This is when BIBLICAL LOVE comes in.

"Biblical Love knows nothing of backing out when things getr tough. Biblical love gives without expecting, goes the extra mile, sacrafices for others...
it is not constantly seeking the emotional high that often characterizes immature relationships but instead is content with the depth and breadth that only the the love of a maturing,godly relationship can provide. Biblical love is not constantly looking for a better deal: it is too busy thanking GOD for the REAL deal."


I mean seriously...CAN YOU ARGUE WITH THAT??????????

It "talks" you thru LOTS of things:

His Sexuality
His affection
His Mind
His Choices
His Trials
His Priorities
His Past
His Fatherhood
His Marriage

SOOOOO MUCH GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Each topic is divided into a few pages.

A few CHOICE words.

From "His Sexuality":

For a wife, sex comes out of affection. She doesn't want to be affectionate with a man who makes her feel angry,hurt,lonely,disappointed,overworked,under supportive, uncared for, or abandoned. But for a husband, sex is PURE need.His eyes, brain, and emotions get clouded if he doesn't have that release. He has trouble hearing anything his wife says or seeing what she needs when that area of HIS is neglected.
Wives sometimes have it BACKWARDS. They think, " We can have sex AFTER we get those other issues settled. But actually there is a far greater chance of settling the other issues if sex comes first.




If you have a a HUSBAND...you understand this!!

My husband TOTALLY FITS into THIS group of men.

(Sorry Jay)...Although I am SURE he wouldn't care if I said it! LOL

THIS is why we as WOMEN, have to make SEX a priority.

We cant wait for the ROMANTIC FEELINGS.

We cant wait for A NIGHT OUT.

or a NIGHT IN ALONE.

We have to realize that it is MUCH MORE of a PRIMAL INSTINCT for THEM.

We have to sometimes ....for lack of better words.....

TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM.

Yep...Take one for the team.

Im sure that I'm going to hear about THIS!!! LOL

That's right...even when your tired,mad,frustrated.

I am learning that the FREQUENCY of sex should be determined by the OTHER persons needs.
and SOMETIMES mine.

Something is built in the man and the marriage when THIS need is met by his wife.
AND
Something is diminished when it is not.

A few weeks ago I actuall WON this book on my friend Heathers blog.

She ia an AMAZING writer and had AWESOME things to say about this book.

And to my AMAZEMENT...I won the drawing and she sent me the book.

ALl I have to say is ...LIFECHANGING.

If you are a parent who is CONCERNED about raising children in a "modern" world, this book is

LIFECHANGING

And I am not even done with it!

I know its been a while...I know.

To be honest ...I have been CRAZY busy!

I read this book BEFORE I saw the movie and LOVED it!!!!!

A great, "get lost in the book" read....

There are very few books that Jay will read...(At least I know Zeek comes by it NATURALLY!)

THIS book is one the books that he would LISTEN to.

Funny ...I know.

But...Believe it or not...I read ALMOST the entire book "Roots" to him!

He LOVED it!!!!

I like this book because its really,really, funny.
In this book she spies on Mrs. and she gets into a real lot of trouble.
I think kids would like this book because its a really fun book to read.
Its a kinda long book with only 8 chapters.
Junie B. pops out of nowhere when Grandpa takes out his dentures and puts them in a cup.
She gets in LOTS of trouble.
I really liked this book.
I think kids would like this book too!

This book is a great for summer .

Its short an to the point!

I love the way they "talk" to you in this book.

Perfect for those of us who want a KICK in the BUTT!!!!

Here is 1 example: CHAPTER 1

"Okay. Use your brain. You have to get healthy if you want to get skinny. Healthy=skinny. Unhealthy=fat. The first thing you have to o is give up your gross vices. You can't act surprise! You cannot keep eating the same shit an expect to get skinny."

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!

I keep this book with me at all times.

If you have never read this book...I highly recommend it.

The story follows a woman as she travels thru a PART of her life.

She takes a "journey" ...Both physically an mentally!!!

We should ALL "Eat, Pray, Love".

Its Friday again....Time for "Fabulous Book" Friday!!!

"Homeschooling at the speed of Life" is a great book...It helped me get thru the 1st year of homeschooling.

There were times that I doubted that I COULD homeschool these 4 monkeys!!!! LOL

And THIS BOOK helped me thru those times.
It helped me KNOW that I COULD do it.
I had doubts...as ALL homeschool moms do!!!

We are CONDITIONED to BELIEVE that Public school is the ONLY way.
I went to a GREAT SCHOOL in Texas....one of the BEST.
We were ALWAYS very involved in school...My Dad was the PRESIDENT of the SCHOOL BOARD...AND great at it!!!(Love you Daddy -XOXO)
I had a GREAT time in school.
ALTHOUGH...I think that FOR ME- NOW is a different TIME.

I have made a choice to homeschool for MANY reasons.
But I have had to WILLFULLY TRY and UN-condition myself from the way society says is the ONLY way.

And I think MOST people can agree that there are MORE THAN 1 WAY!!!!

I Love all my friends who chose public school...I respect THEIR decisions..
I have been to their SCHOOL FUNCTIONS and had a GREAT time!!!!
I LOVE that they have THOUGHT about what is best for THEIR families...And Public school is it!

I think that this book would be a "FABULOUS" book for ANY Mom....Homeschooling or NOT!!!

This book is soooo amazing.

I recommend it for ANY parent....New or old.

It has any info you would nee about all vaccinations.

I have ALOT of people ask me what we do about vaccinations.

We did do SOME vaccinations before we move to Costa Rica.

I got MOST of my info from this amazing book!!!!

AND....It is cheap!!!

About $7- Cant beat that !!!

This book CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!

It is so well written and from a BIBLICAL point of view.

If your looking for a book to "get into" this summer...I vote on THIS one!!!

My copy is so written in and highlighted that I cant even THINK about buying a new one.

Karol Ladd also writes other books: The power of a POSITIVE wife, friend, etc.

ALL OF THEM ARE GREAT!!!

Ladies, I can't STRESS this enough,
RUN to your Barnes and Noble and BUY IT!!!!
